The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Account Executive to drive new business growth by helping B2B organizations modernize and optimize their supply chain data exchanges. In this role, you will own the full sales cycle - from prospecting to close - and play a key role in expanding Commport’s footprint across North America.

This is an ideal opportunity for a results-driven SaaS sales professional who thrives in complex, consultative sales environments and enjoys building long-term client relationships. 

What You’ll Do

New Business Development

  • Develop leads into opportunities and build relationships with potential new clients to generate new business for Commport.
  • Negotiate and close deals by understanding, building and delivering client value propositions.
  • Create or adjust content of sales presentations and statements of work (SOWs) to suit the needs of the target enterprise, working with the marketing team to ensure adherence to corporate standards.
  • Focus sales efforts by proactively studying existing and changing market conditions.
  • Manage new contract negotiations and new business development initiatives, working as needed with the VP of Sales & Marketing and other sales team members.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support key sales presentations to partners and customers when required.
  • Identify and engage new prospects through outbound channels and promptly respond to marketing generated inbound leads.
  • Participate in outbounding campaigns which support projects and initiatives that generate additional business and revenue for Commport.
  • Communicate Commport’s value proposition through engaging, audience-tailored presentations.

 

Pipeline & Forecast Management

  • Submit orders following practices and procedures as outlined in the sales playbook.
  • Keep management informed of activity and follow defined sales and order generation processes using internal applications such as the corporate CRM.
  • Forecast and achieve personal monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets in accordance with corporate sales forecasts.
  • Maintain an acceptably high level of both monthly and daily sales activity which supports company revenue objectives.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products and delivery schedules and communicates these trends to marketing and other internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend changes in products, services, and pricing by evaluating results and competitive developments.

 

Collaboration & Strategic Growth

  • Resolve any customer complaints by working with Customer Success Managers (CSMs) as required.
  • Contribute to team/departmental goals by accomplishing related results as required.
  • Contribute to the company’s documented functional department tactical plan, implementation, tracking, and compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to enhance a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Attend and be prepared for productive weekly and monthly sales meetings.
  • Partake in educational/professional development activities to improve competitive and business process knowledge, as well as professional selling skills.

Working Conditions
  • Remote work and in-office work
  • Ability to travel for trade shows and for sales may be required on occasion
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business/business administration, communications, international relations or a related discipline; and/or of 8 to 10 years’ experience in sales, account management, and/or business development roles in a B2B environment in the technology industry
  • Proven SaaS software sales experience is a requirement
  • Proficient in sales pipeline and budget management
  • Experience working with CRM tools and workflows
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams
  • Entrepreneurial drive and track record of success in building new revenue channels
  • Stellar communication and the ability to speak in front of large groups and present analysis to executive level clients and decision-makers
  • Strong negotiation skills, financial acumen, and the ability to manage profitability
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with key business executives (internal and external)
  • Conversant and knowledgeable about technology, trends and how technology is being applied to address business challenges
  • Tech-savvy - uses technology to improve customer collaboration
  • RCMP Criminal Background Check required (for Secure B Reliability Status)
 
Nice to Haves
  • MBA
  • Experience selling EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network), and/or VAN Services (Value Added Network) solutions and services
  • Experience with ERP Systems like SAP, NetSuite, Sage etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data standards and integration CSV, ANSI X12, EDIFACT, JSON and XML formats
  • Knowledge and understanding of product data pools and information sharing methods like GDSN, PIM and Syndication
  • Bilingualism is considered a definite asset
